Sophie Danielson
Biography
Sophie Danielson is the Founder and Managing Director of Books Unbound, dedicated to providing contextualized informal learning resources for refugees. Born in Colorado and raised in Cape Town, she has extensive experience traveling and working in education and community development. She has lived and worked in Thailand and Bangladesh, building out independent education-related projects for Rohingya refugees while consulting for NGOs such as the International Organization for Migration. Sophie’s work has taken her to Myanmar, Malaysia, Ecuador, Spain, Colombia, Nepal, Greece, among others. In 2019, Sophie established Books Unbound to foster community-driven informal education networks and generate employment opportunities for artists and local teachers. Currently based in Colorado, she works closely with resettled refugees locally while overseeing education development programs in refugee camps overseas.
