Welcome from New Editor Snjezana Bilic

Hi, my name is Snjezana Bilic and I am honoured to join the team of editors at RRO. I am a senior lecturer at University of South Australia (UniSA). I coordinate and teach sociology courses in the Foundation Studies and Diploma programs at UniSA.

My research is grounded in social justice initiatives and equitable access to higher education for all students. My lived experience as a refugee informs my research interests to include and make more visible the perspectives of students from refugee backgrounds at university. I am also passionate about advancing educational initiatives for women who have experienced homelessness. In 2022 I won UniSA Education Futures Research Academy Fellowship Grant for the project on developing best practice approaches for teaching and supporting students from refugee backgrounds in higher education. My research interests also include promoting an educative approach to Academic Integrity practices. My research was recognised in 2018 (UniSA Award for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning) and nationally in 2019 (Australian Award for University Teaching (AAUT)).  I am a lifetime member of the Centre for Research in Educational and Social Inclusion (CRESI). I am a member of a board of Directors of Refugee Education Australia – a new not-for-profit organisation, which is focused on enhancing educational opportunities for refugees and people seeking asylum.
