RESEARCHERS FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS INTERDISCIPLINARY POSTGRADUATE CONFERENCE
THURSDAY 16 NOVEMBER 2017 – THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE
CALL FOR PAPERS
Conference Spotlight: Forced Migration and Human Rights
The conference is intended to accommodate postgraduate researchers – past and present – as well as practitioners and policy makers/advisors working in the field. Proposals concerning this year’s conference spotlight on forced migration and human rights are sought in addition to abstracts addressing any aspects of refugee and asylum seeker experiences and policies. Submissions from all disciplinary backgrounds are welcome as are papers reporting on work in progress.
Two different formats will be in operation at this year’s conference:
– 20-minute oral presentation (15 minutes + 5 minutes question time)
– 5 minute oral presentation + 5 minutes question time (provide a quick snapshot of your work or research still in the early stages of a project). If you choose this option, you may wish to use the ‘Ignite’ style format – 20 slides, which automatically advance every 15 seconds.
Abstract submissions of 150 – 250 words (accompanied by a brief biography of 50 words or less) are required by Friday 20 October for either format. Please state your preference for a 20 minute or 5 minute presentation at the time of submission but note that presentation times may be limited by the organisers depending on
the time available.
Conference registration is free and includes lunch. To submit your abstract, or for further information, please email Karen Block keblock@unimelb.edu.au.
