Migration, Refugees and Statelessness Interdisciplinary Conference – Tuesday November 19, 2019

On Tuesday 19 November, the Melbourne Social Equity Institute, together with the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness, will present a one-day conference exploring migration, refugee studies and statelessness.

This event builds on the tradition of the Researchers for Asylum Seekers Conference which ran at the University of Melbourne for over a decade. It provides an opportunity for graduate and early career researchers, as well as practitioners and policy makers working in the field, to present their work, meet with other researchers and to discuss their research with an engaged, interdisciplinary audience.

Call for Papers

This conference is intended to accommodate graduate and early career researchers, as well as practitioners and policy makers working in the field.

Submissions from all disciplinary background are welcome, as are papers reporting on work in progress.

Two different formats will be in operation at this year’s conference:

• 20 minute oral presentation (15 minutes + 5 minutes question time)
• 5 minute oral presentation + 5 minutes question time (provide a quick snapshot of your work or research still in the early stages of a project).

You will be asked to indicate your preference for a 20 minute or a 5 minute presentation. Please note that presentation times may be limited by the organisers depending on the time available.

Abstract submissions of 150-250 words (accompanied by a brief biography) are requested by Monday 23 September.

Bookings

This is a free conference and everyone is welcome to attend. A light lunch, catered by the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, will be provided at no cost.
