Content Type

Refugee Research Online is looking for a variety of content from different sectors, disciplines and experiences across the world. This includes, but is not limited to, short essays, interviews, policy briefs, event and literature reviews, op-eds, research summaries and abstracts and any other relevant content.

Uninvited submissions are welcome although publication is not guaranteed and revisions may be requested. Acceptance of articles is based on quality and relevance. We are happy to work with authors to improve your offering if necessary. Our aim is to be inclusive and encourage contributions from under-represented groups and we are keen to encourage writing from people in the Global South and those within a lived experience of forced migration.

Refugee Research Online is run on a voluntary basis and unfortunately we are not able to offer remuneration for contributions. The views expressed on this site are those of individual author/s and do not represent the views of Refugee Research Online, its editors or the institutions to which the authors or editors are affiliated.

Style Guide

Please ensure the submission adheres as closely as possible to our Style Guide [pdf].

Hyperlinks should be used wherever possible in place of footnotes under terms such as ‘this report’, ‘this post’, ‘announced’, ‘launched’, etc. Please ensure links are correct. When linking to a PDF file, particularly a large one, please insert ‘[pdf]’ after the link in order to warn readers with slow internet connections.

Submission

General guidelines for submitting posts to Refugee Research Online are:

  • article length to be between 500 and 1500 words (with exceptions),
  • attributed to individual/s, not an organisation/s or anonymous author/s,
  • include a small biography (less than 50 words) and a profile image. An Author Profile will be created for each contributor,

  • we may edit your post and will send you a revised post if the changes are major,
  • you must declare any organisational affiliations, material that was used as the basis for your article if it is highly derivative, and funding received,
  • all articles and photos accepted for publication will be published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License,
  • submissions should be sent to the site editors: refugeeresearchonline[at]gmail.com

Review

Every submission will undergo review by at least two editors. Publication is not guaranteed and revisions may be requested. We aim to send feedback with a decision within 4 weeks of submission. We also aim to work closely with authors to improve their offering throughout the review and editing process.

While we welcome and appreciate multiple submissions from authors, we will limit publications by an author to one article every three months.
